I may have my frustrations and disappointments about Starmer as a domestic politician, but internationally, I think he’s serious, responsible and trying to do his best for U.K. in unbelievably complex int’l environment, despite treasonous ghouls like Farage doing their best to undermine him.

Starmer is no Blair either- thank God!

Labour finally paying the price for chasing the votes of right wing bigots and treating left and centre voters like fools. Not too late to change course before the next election, but that time is rapidly approaching…🤨

You'd think Reform would be delighted that a white, working class plumber got elected and they beat the metropolitan elite university lecturer.

If Labour did want to make an immediate big statement about a change of direction, coming off X/Twitter would be it. It would be real-life vibes politics - with the added bonus of being entirely cost-free in every sense.

Heard the by-election result and realised that Morgan McSweeney was not the genius he told everyone he was. Hope Keir Starmer woke up to the same thought.

Reminder that two Labour seats were lost in by-elections called because the resigning MPs did stupid things. Could the rest of Labour’s MPs give serious consideration to not doing stupid sh*t?

Only 61% turnout in the Your Party election. Why would you belong to a political party and NOT vote in a leadership election? Surely this must count as one of your most important duties as a member of a democratic organisation.

I now have a vote two sets of elections in May.

I will be voting Labour in both and urge everyone to commit now to voting Labour in May.

It will be a low turn out and every vote matters.

It is the least you can do to stop Reform. It's our national duty to make a stand against hate.

The fact that Lyse Douchet's salary is lower than Mason's or Kuenssberg's shames the BBC.

Imagine if the focus of our media was policy rather than anonymous political briefings and sensationalism.

When was the last time the BBC’s political correspondent Chris Mason reported any government policies or interventions?

Two things are true in this instance:
1. Keir Starmer made a huge error of judgement over Mandelson, which was entirely avoidable.
2. The media is determined to destabilise the Government because stability isn't profitable, and many of them are far too full of their own self importance.

John McDonnell is a class act (in a way that Corbyn wasn’t). Bringing him in would signal the end of Morgan McSweeney factionalism and the re- creation of the Labour big tent. Also think Emily Thornberry is a class act.

Keir Starmer allowing Morgan McSweeney to resign is another sign that he is weak. He should have sacked him. His words of praise also show he has learned nothing from this crisis. I still hope Starmer succeeds, but he really needs to step up.

Just beyond parody at this point

Morgan McSweeney’s exit is a good thing but a Labour government will only succeed if it rebuilds the coalition of left- right sections of the party. Start by bringing in John McDonnell to the Treasury… and bring back Emily Thornberry because she is fantastic.

Morgan McSweeney should be suspended from the Labour Party. He has done it huge harm and brought it into disrepute.

Morgan McSweeney has resigned? He should have been sacked- publicly sacked. I have been a supporter of Starmer but this just shows more weakness.

This is so true. However I did expect better of Starmer. I expected nothing else from Johnson.
