I try to buy directly from a company rather than from Amazon if I can. But when they want $15.99 for 254 gm (9 oz) of coffee (and $70 spend to get free shipping) and their Amazon store has it for $9.97 with free shipping, I can't justify that.

A bit more snow. Just enough so that the roads have devolved into "lane, what lane?"

We didn't fare too badly with the storm, although I haven't been out yet. 20-25 cm (8-10"), but the lake effect hit Toronto (40+ cm) rather than Hamilton. Should be interesting to see how the parking lot is, since there's nowhere to put the snow except in parking spots. But that's for tomorrow.

We had a brief power outage, and now the apartment building has no heat. Something has apparently fucked up the boiler. -17Β° and no heat. Really? My apartment's always warm because the sun hits the 4 big windows, but come night ...

Fried potato scones
It's that time of the year when I attempt my family's version of an Ulster fry; it's the first year in a while. Potato scones, bacon, sausage, eggs; no soda bread because I'm never successful making it. Now I just have to find my mother's recipe for potato scones.

I think this is 1966 or so. He was 19, a marine, formerly a logger. I don't think he did full-frontal, but his posing strap revealed a lot.

Canada's divisive 'weird' chocolate, the Cherry Blossom, now worth its weight in gold | CBC News
While many Canadians have had a love-hate relationship with the treat, now that they're nearly gone, what's left appears to be in high demand. And resellers are looking to cash in.

You can do a lot with $50,000, should you happen to have it.
...
Or, you could bid on a 24-pack of Hershey's Cherry Blossom chocolates on eBay, where a seller from Oakville, Ont., is currently selling the discontinued candy for $48,300.

To clean under my windshield wipers I have to start the car, turn it off and hold down the wiper lever so they rise to the top position. I can't lift them when they're in the rest position because they hit the hood. This is Canada. I don't envision any problem with this in the winter (sarcasm)

Going thru photos that I got after my cousin died, who in turn got them from my aunt who died in 1986. I recognized some, but she never labelled them so I'm in the dark for a lot. Then I spotted one of a child, maybe a year or so old. It's me. My mom had the same pic and I never spotted it before

I use a fan to circulate the AC in my apt. I've had it about 6 years and it's starting to rattle. Can't take it apart, naturally, so I went on the hunt for a new one. Found what I wanted on Amazon - $167! Got it at Canadian Tire for $114. The price still shocked me, but not as badly

Ran out first thing this morn to pick up some croissants. Then I got distracted. I bought tissues, dish soap, shaving cream, a couple of frozen entrΓ©es for a quick lunch. All on sale. And I came home without the bloody croissants.

I drink 4 cups of coffee (incl 1 decaf) a day. Keurig pods will cost abt $85 a mo. Thatβs crazy. Iβve switched to ground, in my own filter, at the strength I want. I can get great, better-tasting, made in Canada coffee for about $22 for 454g (1 lb), and that lasts almost 28 days.

Canada has this weird relationship with the metric system. We use Celsius, litres. kilometres and kilograms. But a lot of people will give you their personal height and weight in feet/inches and lbs. And I just bought a quart of strawberries this morning.
