Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) need cool weather for proper blooms (45F to 55F). If you are in Omaha the next few nights might be a bit too cold - bring them in for the night and take them out the next day. #NebExt

Now is the time to harvest mature green tomatoes. Tomatoes do not need sunlight to ripen. Wrap in newsprint and store in a cardboard box (I only had the green tub for pictures). Check every few days. #NebExt

One of our dreaded garden pests have emerged, the squash vine borer. Now is the time to scout your squash (including zucchini) for eggs and destroy when you see them. Don't forget pumpkins and gourds. #NebExt
