I don’t have a darkroom and most of my art lately is dependent on the sun (lumens, cyanotypes, pinhole photos). I also have a lot more energy and will power to leave the house when it’s warm

Does anyone else “hibernate” in the winter? I find it a little harder to make art during these dark and cold months. I try to use this time for planning, writing, and research instead.

I would assume so. In my original research I recall red wine having more phenols making it more ideal for development. I found a white wine recipe because I didn’t want the project I was working on to have a red tint. Something my I’m interested in trying now.

You definitely should! I do a mixture of white wine, vitamin c powder, washing soda, and water.

I like that, that’s cool. I love the concept of time within pinhole photography.

Y'know years ago I was pretty convinced learning art history wouldn't have a meaningful impact upon the art I make- until I eventually made the effort and started learning art history. Would highly recommend it if you haven't taken that step yourself. It will surprise, delight, and inspire you.

I found a recipe for wine developer in the caffenol group on FB. Basically, you can develop photos using anything with phenols. I like saving my veggie/fruit scraps and using that to make developer.
