GLP-1 medications get at the heart of addiction: study
Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have shown in a new study that GLP-1 medications, typically used for diabetes and weight loss, may be effective at treating and pre...
GLP-1 drugs offer an incredible opportunity for addiction treatment. These drugs pull some kind of a whammy on our brain's reward circuits like nothing else. We would never even have them without two curious scientists pulling at a weird thread in their research:

Okay I had missed the part where both Israel and we denied being responsible for the bombing. Some mysterious third party in a trenchcoat apparently bombed a girls' school & killed 165 people, possibly intentionally but possibly b/c they hadn't updated their data since 2024 or even 2016. SUPER.

Well, they also seem to have to have many fake outs, so half the acts end with the character coming across someone acting fishy & we think she's run into the murderer, & then the fishy person is like, "No, I am just doing something reasonable extremely suspiciously for some reason."

Which would make sense if these were characters who normally lead wild lives, but in these dramas it's always the smart girl and her nerd friends.
Maybe the teens just ghost each other all the time now and I didn't know.

They just wander off into the night & don't tell anybody where they've gone, following murder stuff, & then they go home & go to sleep & wake up to 10 texts like, "Where U go? Getting worried about U" & then they tell their friends, "Oh, I just got tired & went home" & the friends accept that.

Also, side note, in the teen-girl-is-solving-a-mystery ones, for some reason, they're always going to a party with their friends & then leaving to pursue a lead w/o saying anything, & then not answering their friends' texts until the next day, & for some reason the friends never get mad about this.

I will say, I have been watching a LOT of series about people, especially teens, deciding to solve a mystery in their town lately, & what it has taught me is that these are hard to write well. B/c how do you sustain a whole-season mystery w/o cheating w/o some very silly plot twists?

I described the experience to a friend as, "Like slowly watching a decent artist do a paint by numbers, but every twenty minutes or so, some of their colors get taken away, and in the end it turns out to be a painting of a turd." Which is mean (& why I won't name the show), but accurate.

Yesterday I watched a TV show based on a YA mystery novel. The show was written & acted well, but the book's plot, it turns out, is insanely convoluted & nonsensical. It was a very confusing watch, b/c it started okay & then the characters' actions made less & less sense until I was agape & annoyed.
