One of my PCs walks into a magical forest and gets lost.

Rather than go in also, the rest of the party says, "we'll wait for him to come back"

Me: "How long do you want to wait?"

Them: "until they come back"

Me, rephrasing: "How many days pass until you realize you have to go after him?"

We're going to have a session zero soon. They told me they frequently go to Anime/Gaming conventions and want to know how to play to join some one-shots, so it still might be DnD, but I'm gonna push DaggerHeart as a longer campaign for us!

Just got approached by some #ttrpg newbie friends of mine after they found out I'm a GM. They want me to teach them #dnd but I'm thinking of just teaching them #daggerheart instead. 🤷‍♂️

Welcome to the club! Just finished adapting some of the rules into my ongoing DnD campaign to hopefully begin converting my current group to a full Daggerheart campaign

Yes, it's a popular rules simplified version with just d6. Same basic concepts though. Comes with a pre build world, NPCs, monsters, adventures, etc.

I bought Hero Kids on drivethrurpg to play with my 4 year old. She loves it! Will eventually adapt her to d20s as our sessions increase in complexity

I literally just got fed up with trying to figure it out that I gave one of them mind reading abilities to make a mental group chat for all of them. Too much gameplay time wasted with them trying to find quiet places to plan attacks and strategize.

Haha exactly. Also, I told them when they say something in character at the table, they said it. There's no going back. One player said that an NPC misinterpreted him and that's not what he meant. I said, "Roll deception & tell the NPC that in character instead of arguing with the DM about it" lol

For example a downed NPC was on 2 failed death saves before we broke initiative. A player asked about their status, and I said "they are bleeding out." The team began discussing and I simply said, "I'm making a death saving throw in 3, 2, 1..." Needless to say they quickly intervened.

3) To satisfy my desire for the table to be live, I implemented a Quick Time mechanic which can supersede the pause mechanic. At certain time sensitive decisions at DM discretion, I will begin counting down. They must make a decision within that time frame or the window will have passed.
