A workaround for using custom properties in media queries One of the most frustrating aspects of media queries is that we canโ€™t use custom properties with them. This often results in hard-coded values in otherwise, highly configurable codebases. Manuel has a...

Last week I wrote my first post for @piccalil.li ๐Ÿ’›

In this article I explain how you can use container style queries to work around the limitation in media queries that hinders you to use custom properties.

This has stuck in my mind from re-reading Asimov's Complete Robot recently:

"Technologyโ€™s gone robot-happy. Any job has to have a robot, or the engineer in charge feels cheated. You want a doorstop; buy a robot with a thick foot."

Fun behind the scenes fact:

Me sipping from my whiskey.

Western music plays.

A shadow casts as he enters.

"You thought you'd never see me again" he says.

I move my hand to my holster.

"Custom DatePicker, this town ain't big enough for the both of us"

Futuristic painting by Chris Moore of a humanoid robot with smooth, metallic skin. The robot is bald, with rounded ear-like structures on its head, glowing red eyes, and small panel-like markings on its chest and forehead. It holds a metal bar with both hands against a glowing gradient background of deep blue and magenta light.

Re-reading a bunch of Asimov stuff and I am just enchanted by the 90s ere cover art. Especially Chris Moore.

Unsure if this is real or just perception, but since AI tools really boomed I get *SO* much more spam email. Particularly well structured, but still evidently spam, emails.

Each day I wish to retreat further towards the hand written letter for communication.

It's been two weeks since my Dad passed away after living with Brain Cancer for 18 months.

In general I'm a pretty private person, but I want to try and raise as much money as possible for Brain Tumour research.
