Hell of a thing.
Remembering a brighter, less cynical time when I didn't understand Josh's point so well.

There are some really solid "guy living in the walls" horror movies out there.

01.03.2026 03:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's awesome. I fully expected to come across one as a kid. A little bummed it hasn't happened yet.

01.03.2026 03:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Mine too! I always dream there's one behind the fridge or stove of my childhood home. Brains are weird.
01.03.2026 03:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I secretly hope to find a secret passageway, preferably with a spiral staircase, whenever I am somewhere new.

Watching an old horror movie where the characters discover a secret passage way in a home they've lived in all their lives.
How.
I walk the perimeter of an Airbnb to make sure the outside dimensions match the inside ones before I settle in.
Who is being foolish now, @joshuaerlich.bsky.social.
Itβs been terrifying to have almost every year in the past 20 years be a lesson in how many people with power make decisions about who lives and dies with little thought or care or even a clear idea as to why theyβre doing anything, and itβs terrifying that it seems to be getting worse

27.02.2026 04:03 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I had a microphone taped to my neck and some poor lab tech had to listen to me sawing logs for however long and write it up in a report . . . I am mortified.

The worst part of my sleep study results:
"Moderate snoring."
Right there in black and white.
I denied it my whole life and can deny no more.
. . . I remain skeptical.
I know itβs difficult right now, but I insist that you seek and enjoy beautiful things, even if it seems frivolous or irresponsible in the face of overwhelming horror. I want you to feed yourself artistically, spiritually, and literally, because you canβt Do The Work when youβre starving.

Ha, seriously!
It is like getting your first pair of glasses if you've needed them for a while.
"I can see the leaves on the trees! Do other people just *see* like this? The world is incredible."
to be fair, he was also screaming at @katieherrmann.bsky.social

I just Googled this condition - it sounds exceptionally tough.
I am def familiar with the common symptom of "nonrefreshing sleep."
I have PTSD. The quick REM cycle that accompanies narcolepsy can mean both needing a nap and knowing the nap could be a day-ruining nightmare.
How is ME/CFS treated?
There are! One of the meds used for narcolepsy I am already on for ADHD (Adderall).
But I am going to give modafinil a try in lieu of the stimulants.
It's a very specific request, but I believe in BlueSky lol
26.02.2026 03:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I can work with this.

That said: Any fellow lawyers with narcolepsy out there?
Would love to hear from you.
Trying to figure out what my professional life should look like, realistically, given the new dx.
That is very sweet.

Congrats on the diagnosis! It is weirdly validating to have a name for it.
It's like hearing "there are a whole group of folks out there who get exactly what you're going through."
