It’s still a mental shift to be outright favourites though. England spent about 18 months losing every close game by less than a score and they are clearly still somewhat fragile as a team

The best teams will always be the biggest scalps. Others tend to up their levels in response.

They absolutely should but they are also probably not used to it; England have had one good year after a pretty long stretch of mediocrity

I listened to this the other day and thought the point he was making was fine. England were on a good run and playing England focuses Irish minds, so they were well scouted seems…fair enough. Not searing analysis but probably true. And it was only a passing comment

Will be exciting to see what he do under ROG. But given Munster’s 10 depth he would’ve been a fairly ideal signing this summer

Was wondering recently if Munster could get Healy back, would’ve been a good option. But great move for him

I really, really, really don’t care that English pundits predicted England wins last week or before the tournament. They were correct! England were favourites. Murrayfield and Twickenham were upsets

If Italy can keep up their performance levels and England continue to be so mentally fragile, Rome in a couple of weeks will be fascinating/hilarious

That’s a heartbreaker for Wales but that’s the best they’ve played in about three years

Scotland do a Scotland and somehow lose to Wales. Then Scotland do another Scotland and thump France. Ireland win the rest of their games and the championship. Simple

Thought Big Stu had sewn up player-of-the-match by chasing down Marcus and carrying him into touch but no arguments with JGP; outstanding

Like, not to take anything away from how good Ireland have been, but between the 10th minute in Murrayfield and all of today England are now in the midst of an all-timer of a collapse

21.02.2026 16:01 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is absolutely one of the maddest games I can remember

21.02.2026 15:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Ireland looking way more on it and comfortable than they have so far in this championship. But let’s not lose sight of how funny it is that England are playing worse in Twickenham than Italy did in Dublin

21.02.2026 15:07 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Ireland looking way comfortable just keeping the ball moving and the tempo up. Plus actually giving the ball to McClosky early

21.02.2026 14:48 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Good start from Ireland and England looking encouragingly nervy

21.02.2026 14:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe there’s some method to madness, but Ireland selection is all over the shop at the moment. The impression it gives is flailing

19.02.2026 11:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

My frustration with him when he emerged is that he always seemed to be looking to do hero things (because he’s so physically comfortable), often meerkating for cool things rather than just getting stuck in. I thought that would change (just rawness) but it hasn’t really, hence a lot of the pens

17.02.2026 09:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Good to see him defend his players but not sure calling attention to it is the best strategy. Also, are IRFU still posting on Formerly Twitter?

16.02.2026 09:25 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And the collapse has been so fast. They’ve won a championship more recently than England. And now it’s just β€œwell I guess nobody died out there”

15.02.2026 17:09 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s 4 out of last 5 HOME games that Wales have conceded more than 50 points. It’s not even remarkable anymore that they ship 50

15.02.2026 16:57 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I’ve never been more confident than I am at this moment that Ireland will put 50 on Scotland in a few weeks

14.02.2026 18:30 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

How many points up would Scotland need to be at 15mins before you’d be confident they’d win? I’m gonna go 35

14.02.2026 17:34 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Hahaha, being a Scotland rugby fan must be the most annoying thing in the world

14.02.2026 17:11 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

(Obviously, that was also incredibly self-serving from Borthwick)

14.02.2026 16:54 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It would be hyperbolic to apply it to Ireland at the moment but the thing that keeps popping into my head at the moment is Borthwick’s β€œweren’t good at anything” line about England

It was hands rather than carrying but the last Ireland try comes from doing not thinking. No deciding, just going

14.02.2026 15:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Munster at their least effective in the last few years have been very guilty of this; lotsa tippy, tappy little pop passes to guys standing beside them getting eaten up by defenders

14.02.2026 15:20 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

At their peak it was Ireland’s strength, and one of Prendergast’s big selling points too, to make decisions late at the line. But feels like they are make way to many decisions now at the expense of just being direct and dominating. Give the ball to McClosky as quickly and often as possible
