And thank you so much, that honestly means a lot, it takes a lot of real emotional effort.

Writing Emily Reyes is hard because she's a character who in some ways is so intimately based on myself (the intensity, the severe depression, the extreme moods, the sometimes-highly-bleak worldview, the transgender-lost-girl vibes, and so on), but she's such a repulsive, monstrous, irredeemable, fashy character that it kind of feels like writing a hideous, cruel caricature of myself that I want to punch. It feels, honestly, painful to write her sometimes, or to even think of her. She feels like everything I know I'll never be and everything I despise about myself and about the most horrible monsters and demons of this ugly, stupid, depraved world.
