You're right. It might not be the drivers in North Berwick who are vandalising the meters. It will be interesting to see if anyone is caught.
As regards the money making, council budgets have suffered so much over recent years and maintaining essential services isn't getting any cheaper.

I don't live there but I'm a regular visitor. The North Berwick FB group is very illuminating on the subject , as are the comments under this same article on FB. Drivers in towns and cities all over Scotland pay for parking so why not drivers in NB?

The sense of entitlement the drivers in North Berwick have is quite incredible. They seem to think the roads belong to them and nobody else and don't get that causing thousands of pounds worth of damage means less money for vital council services.
