This is completely correct, and after watching Democratic leadership speak on the news tonight I don't think there will be much to stop them.

This is not something we just "come back" from. So now we have to figure out how to move past it to something new, and perhaps terrifyingly unfamiliar.

So we're getting up, we're moving forward, we're somehow trying to maintain the structure of our daily lives, but we are in no way walking into a future that will resemble any sense of stability that existed prior to January 21st, 2025.

And even if Musk or Trump, or one one of these peach fuzzed little shits don't sell this information or plug it into something as porous as literally any database that Musk maintains, this information has been compromised in such a way that it is now effectively unsecured to anyone really wants it.

But unlike former times, in this digitized era, there is no "getting back" our data or securing the treasury.

That was the ballgame and we lost, everything that comes for the next few months will be massive distractions as these mendacious dipshits figure out what to do with the information.

That it was done so by a tiny handful of young men barely, if actually, past adolescence says as many depressing things about how much we have learned about Trump's willingness to upend norms as it signals another parallel to Nazi Germany's use of impressionable youth seeking belonging.

When they keep hitting us with new ground-shaking moments every single day, it becomes too easy to back-burner the fact that the private financial and personal information collected by the government was just breached and stolen by a private businessperson from a foreign country.

This is where I come down:

Trump and Musk's compromising of the mechanisms of the United States are barely the beginning in the enfuckification of the USA. We're a little myopic on the trade war right now and USAID, which are both of enormous importance. But that's the point.

We'll see how this BlueSky thing goes. I absolutely despised Twitter and this feels very much like Old-Twitter before the Musk made it somehow even worse. These short blasts are antithetical to reasoned thought and long-form consideration so maybe substack?
