Nose: heavy brown sugar cinnamon, in a way that is very Michter’s. Sweet spice. Prominent rye spice, pepper and dried herbs. Seasoned firewood. Smells like nice, spicy, extra-aged rye.

Palate: really big black cherry note, with charred vanilla and flan, albeit not particularly sweet. Corny sweetness into big char, roasted oak and espresso. Pepper and trailing spice, stem ginger and star anise. An intriguing profile. #whiskey #bourbon

Bomberger’s Declaration Bourbon (2025) review:

Nose: Black cherry, clove, kettle corn, anise. Aromatic oak resin and cooked, syrupy dark fruit, faint fudge. A little more boozy. Nose actually feels a little bit repressed, but has an interesting woodiness.

Palate: Sweet corn custard. Really bold, sweet spice on the palate. Brown sugar and tons of cinnamon, almost an amburana-like cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookie profile. I can barely believe how baking spice forward the oak profile is. Very distinct, lightly tannic. A unique one!

Louisiana Senator Bourbon #1 “Huey Long” review:

Nose: Caramel candies, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, faint savory rye, hints of cigar wrapper. Toasted oak. Brown sugar and hints of toasted coconut. A nice level of maturation is implied.

Works for me.
