I know it’s been a rough couple of games Eagles fans - but as a relatively new Philly resident who grew up loving the Jets - just know it could be so, so, so much worse.

I think every University of Oklahoma student should - if they don’t know the answer to a question - just write in “Jesus is the answer” and watch them fire the faculty if you don’t get an A.

I know I’m a few days late on this - but the news that the University of Oklahoma suspended an instructor because they failed a student for not following instructions and using the Bible as a cudgel is another line of demarcation in the rising tide of fascism.

The University of Oklahoma firing the instructor as a way to appease conservative viewpoints is a cowardly, daft, and horrendous solution, and a direct contradiction to their supposed mission.

For a college essay, it’s remedial. It’s poorly constructed; its citations are non-existent; it shows that this person does not have a clear grasp on the goals of the course. Even judging on the citations of the Bible; you would find a student not qualified for the college experience.

From law, to the humanities, to the sciences, you’re asked to use the tools of research and academia to further your claims as a part of the larger pursuit of truth.

There’s also rigid standards to help students properly site and utilize prior research . This student didn’t do any of that.

You can have your personal beliefs - and even be highly influenced by theology. What the instructor was asking for was empirical evidence. We cannot accept an academic world where empirical evidence is somehow a controversial take.
