I'm not sure of the name (airplane ear maybe) but it's the Eustachian Tubes and pain is more common in children because they have smaller ones.
If you're worried about travelling, EarPlanes ear plugs really help me a lot! Just wear them during takeoff and landing
Might be an inner ear problem 😕 I think my ears are ruined by all the flights I took
