( There’s a huff that sounds akin to a laugh and a fleeting look of amusement. To keep that smiling expression of hers when she was so busy… )

ㅤ“I’m alright as I can be. Just as busy. Try not to over do it. Have you been keeping up with meditating?”

( He momentarily arches an eyebrow before checking his watch. Surprisingly he was not called in today... )

ㅤ“It’s irritating work but necessary. We could try something else, of course.”

ㅤ“It’s getting better.”

( It still feels strange, as if she is reteaching him peace. Having her love— )

ㅤ“The others were safe when you saw them?”

ㅤ“Something like that.”

( He keeps his eyes on her with every move she makes, and he yearns for her warmth just as much. Practiced self-restraint keeps him from explicitly showing it. Currently. With closed eyes he presses a kiss to her temple. )
