An endorsement of Land Beneath the Waves with the cover and the endorsement above: A taut, unself-pitying inquiry into the nature of nature, the nature of suffering, the caprice of memory and the slipperiness of identity. Charles Foster, author of Cry of the Wild.
I wasn't sure what @tweedpipe.bsky.social would make of #LandBeneaththeWaves, so I was made up when he gave such generous feedback. I particularly liked his comments "This one's different" and "It will endure long after more emollient books have been pulped." Thanks Charles!

You'll learn lots of amazing swift science too, and while reading this I have certainly been looking up into the spring skies with an extra dose of awe and respect. 3/4

I just finished "The Screaming Sky". An amazing book. It's about swifts, and about the author's obsession with them (and @tweedpipe IS obsessed!). More than that it is a deep dive into the perfection & miracle of any and every species, each an equal product of evolution 1/4..

βReal ale is like many rare & sensitive animals. It is driven out by noise & smoke & bright lights. It thinks that pubs are places in which to drink, talk, laugh, sing & play darts, rather than places for standing sullenly, fighting, & catching herpes from teenagers.β @tweedpipe

This weekβs #InspirationAleQuote comes from the great Charles Foster (@tweedpipe). Sadly, this sentiment is as true today as it was in 2011. https://t.co/soMAZLsklX
