It’s interesting how quotes about Dodger fans got all the attention in PCA’s Chicago Magazine feature when there’s so much cringey other stuff in here, like:

I think the rule is that in order for it to be a true spring roster cut it needs to happen the day before the team distributes the per diems for the next week.

Fans are also going to have a hard time understanding why teams aren’t challenging obvious misses in the fourth inning with two out nobody on but unsuccessfully challange a full-count pitch probably called correctly with two on in the eighth.

PCA has literal Hollywood parents and attended the arguably most-coveted prep school in LA County and he’s out here like “LA fans aren’t the real deal” while playing in the #1 casual tourist ballpark in MLB.

Fine, he can say whatever he wants but this is HILARIOUS.

This is why they push the ring ceremonies to Opening Day +1, IMO.

I love the DLR records with Steve Vai, too. They do not sound like VH but you’ve gotta love that combo: two inimitable guys making a dumb rock record.

This is true and there’s another layer to DLR fitting with the band: Eddie’s guitar was mixed LOUD even by the standards of rock. To sing alongside that requires pretty extreme vocal tone and stylings. DLR evolved into a singer that could fill that space.

That EVH’s guitar could single-handedly carry a band with either David Lee Roth singing random lines with fourthwall-breaking side comments thrown in between or Sammy Hagar trying to sing everything as if it were Very Serious Art(tm) is really a testament to his inimitable genius.

The owners’ war chest was $4bn, but the Pirates, Brewers, Twins, Marlins, and Rays all demanded half of it right off the top.

Geez that guy is wildly wrong on the basic facts. The players take a hundreds-of-millions annual haircut at those cap/floor bounds.

I could write a thread about guys like this, of all ages, casually trying to bully my wife IRL before they realize she’s there with me and then they vanish.

Yet somehow few things frustrate my kids more than me asking them to explain the plot of Frozen 2.

To highlight how outrageous the Tigers’ $19M arbitration offer to Skubal was, the previous record arbitration comp for a pitcher was $19M+ to David Price…in 2015!

Inflation alone takes the value of Price’s award to almost $26M today. Off by 36%.

If nothing else, they are removing any doubt they could afford to offer Skubal more than $19M in arbitration.
