This past weekend has been something rather special indeed. From all of us at the Talyllyn Railway we cannot thank you enough for coming to the Awdry Extravaganza 2025 - so many have travelled so very far to visit our little railway and we are so very grateful.
Not wanting to be overshadowed by the "big trains" up top at Wharf, The Llechfan Garden Railway Gala had an impromptu cavalcade of their own - with WELL over 200 wheels in celebration of Railway 200!
(80+ engines, with 400+ wheels in total - of course ending with Rocket!)
I dunno about you, as time goes on, these awdry events I feel have become a little less about the funny blue little train, but more about meeting the ones who've been brought to Tywyn by him. That's what I've enjoyed most about the awdry events.

The Awdry Extravaganza 2025 celebrates the life and legacy of the Rev. W. Awdry, creator of Thomas the Tank Engine and one of the earliest volunteers on the Talyllyn Railway.
This three-day event from the 18th to 20th July 2025 is the ultimate celebration of his most enduring creation.
With 1 day to go until our Railway Series Weekend, one of our Special Guests has come out of the shed early to show off his lovely new coat of paint!
In fact, he's come out, especially since he heard he could be on TV. You can catch us on ITV News TONIGHT at around 7:20pm!"
