I started working on this drawing half a year ago as a part of the #BirdWhisperer challenge, but I got very busy around that time and only finished it recently. It is far too late for the official posting date, but I am glad I completed this one!

The top middle one is digital from start to end, and the bottom middle one is done traditionally, but edited digitally later :) a regularly work both traditionally and digitally, but for the birds I prefer the traditional look.

The one above the center photo is the godwit and one below is the wagtail :)

Here's a juvenile Green Woodpecker commission that I painted last month and can now share 🐦 It was inspired by a moment from a birding trip, when we finally managed to see the species that had been escaping them again and again.

An original digital illustration of a Green Honeycreeper bird perched on a branch. The branch is placed diagonally from top left to bottom right on the image. With the slight perspective of looking up at the bird you can see the dark browny tail feathers and lower wing feathers which then lead to an explosion of iridescent blue green feathers that cover most of the body. The only other exception is an area of black feathers on the head that form a V shape coming down from the red eye of the bird. Its beak is mildly elongated and tapers slightly down to a sharp point, the bottom half of which is a bright yellow and the top half a blue gray colour. The background is made up of light blue inky washes.
