The airport wasn't quite so happy to see us as all the smiling travellers were... so they escorted us out of the terminal

Activists greeted travellers at the entrances in protest of private jets, airport expansion and air pollution. Children near CPH airport have higher rates of asthma and other respiratory illnesses. This isn't just a climate issue; it's a public health crisis.

Blockade at Kastrup airport

We would all prefer not to be disturbing people’s lives. But the climate disturbance happening & accelerating will kill us all. We do this out of love, for our planet, and all the communities already facing the effects of climate chaos. 2/n

Together with XR Denmark, we again blocked the road in front of Kastrup yesterday, to demand Copenhagen Airports ban private jets. Our home is burning, luxury emissions must stop. #BanPrivateJets #StayGrounded 1/n

The 3 scientists have been arrested and are now at the police station. The private jet they were blocking belongs to North Flying A/S - a company that says on instagram they provide private flying for "family and friends". They sell the destruction of our planet as a fun family weekend activity. 7/n

As the Kastrup blockade was happening, 3 scientists from @scientistrebellion.bsky.social were also blocking a private jet terminal at Aalborg. Dr. Nikoline Borgermann is an environmental research advisor, Dr. Laura Horn is a political scientist and Dr. Marta Matos is a computational biologist. 6/n

A press photographer was run over by a car that decided to push through the human blockade. He is now being treated for head injuries at the hospital. 4/n

The airport police are acting unprofessionally, arresting everyone carelessly and without a warning, and violating our basic right to protest. After unprecedented heatwaves, and wildfires this summer, the Danish government is intent on protecting the carbon emissions of its ultra-rich elites. 5/n

The blockaders at Kastrup were met by extreme violence from angry drivers trying to push through the blockade. Meanwhile, airport security idly stood by, while scientists and activists were trying to calm the drivers down. 3/n
