Starting to get really tired of "It's a distraction."

No. They're not "distractions." They're crimes. Any one of these actions Trump has pulled would see any other president impeached if not imprisoned/charged with war crimes.

The Epstein files aren't the only thing that matters. IT ALL MATTERS.

1. Dyslexia affects many learners in English classrooms. Small adaptations like thoughtful scaffolding and discussion-based learning can dramatically improve engagement and attainment for dyslexic learners. Here are a couple of quick tips for teachers aiming to make English accessible for all. πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡

We work hard at keeping our Life Skills curriculum relevant and innovative. Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome in PC Dale, our School Intervention and Prevention Officer, to deliver a session on Virtual Decisions using VR headsets. #weareREACH

Entitlement is not just literacy, numeracy & keeping children safe, though it is never less than that. Entitlement is the whole childhood a public service is supposed to protect. If we only guarantee what is examined, we quietly teach a bleak lesson about whose lives are allowed to be wide.

I see that too. I know when I’m reporting back identity is in the language of acronyms and diagnoses. Verbal shorthand seems to lead to othering children. For me, the β€˜SEND group’ issue broadens to any situation with labels. For example, β€˜LAC students’ and β€˜PP children’.

This is an example in alternative provision. The first pupil with ADHD struggles with frenetic energy and impulsive behaviour. The second needs help with time management executive dysfunction.

FP
Sensory circuits. Visual aids (traffic light system for emotions).

SP
Visual timers and microtasks.

β€˜SEND children’, β€˜SEMH pupils’, β€˜the behaviour group’, etc. Categories can be useful but they can also have a reductionist element. Students with similar needs are not the same.

28.02.2026 17:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I really don’t like the term β€˜SEND’. And I really don’t like that we refer to a group of children as β€˜SEND children.’ Like they all need the same thing because they’re β€˜SEND.’
In kayaking, when you β€˜send it’, you’ve generally hucked over a massive waterfall or done a huge loop on a wave.
As ever, -

It’s the same for me. I looked at the commute and stay options but I don’t have a stable income. I have my ECT years though. Edu events are on the list!

One of the frustrating aspects of #ChronicIllness/ rare diseases/ mental health conditions/ allergies/and #disability is assigning blame for new symptoms.

Is this new problem a sign of what you're treating? The meds? An unrelated illness or injury? Stress? Overexertion? The hellscape we're in?

This isn’t an inspirational post. It’s not about overcoming health issues. I still have them. I can get on or lose more of me. Chronic health conditions are always there but they can’t dictate when I have some control. I also know my career path isn’t linear and I have options. It’s not a sprint.

I thought my career was over when I was diagnosed with my brain tumour. I was 25. I remember the heavy silence and late nights. I deferred my final PGCE placement. It is non-malignant for now so that’s the positive! Flares happen but I have the rehabilitative education opportunity.

Sad news about Rob Grant. Tangential to his writing I know, but I could never get over the opening titles of the early series of Red Dwarf, their epic loneliness – what a way to start a sitcom

Automatic Negative Thoughts

These quick, critical thoughts can feel true, but they aren’t always facts. Pause and challenge them

What’s the evidence? What would I say to a friend? Is there a more balanced view?

Wrote quite extensively a while back about how schools are set up for the most able children and how this makes them institutionally biased against those who find things most difficult.
