I wrote ages ago about how seeing non-binary people casually existing on Erlin’s Eye gave me hope for a future where the most remarkable thing about people like me wouldn’t be their gender. I think the casual-ness of gender diversity in that story is what I was talking about

We have this view of gender as complicated and consequential, almost as religion - something that defines our internal sense of self. Maybe transness and gender diversity can be easier and more casual than that

Transness as a malicious spectre out to snare unwitting victims is a bizarre way of conceptualising gender. I don’t buy it. “If someone had told me I was a girl I don’t know what I would have done.” Maybe you would have transitioned and led just as happy and fulfilling a life

Maybe you’d just be happier if you had boobs. Maybe transitioning would just suit you better. It doesn’t have to be this thing where you have to unearth a buried truth about yourself. Being trans and being cis should be value neutral. An effeminate man deciding to transition should not be a tragedy

And like. Here’s a radical thought. So what if gay men transition? So what if a gay man decides that trans womanhood is a better fit? I think we need to move away from an understanding of transness and of gender as some inherent switch that’s either flipped or not

The anti-trans movement’s fascination with imaginary harm that could hypothetically befall non-existent people if healthcare is provisioned to real, flesh and blood people, is deeply sinister. A belief system that necessitates a phantom world to justify it

Driving through Night City in the dark, glancing over your shoulder at Panam Palmer lounging in the passenger seat, is just an absolutely singular experience. The way you’re dwarfed by the downtown sprawl is just inimitable
