I mean, shadow of the colossus is another great example of scale - by the same developers - but even like shigeru miyamoto claimed to be inspired by childhood treks around the countryside when he designed Zeldas relative vastness and openness.

So this is a very legit take, but be aware that storing very large assets on git (e.g. videos) will present some challenges. the repo may grow unreasonably large as your git history gets longer.
