I’ve said it before on Twitter/X, but I actually feel sorry for Tales fans who aren’t into Arise. The Arise fandom is so talented and creative, and they have so many interesting ideas for Arise’s world and characters. Best fandom I’ve been in, frankly. You’re missing out.

Oh, I forgot about that heroine poll! Shionne ranking next to gaming legends and being one of only three Tales heroines in the Top 10 is a big deal!

Yeah, I think Arise haters are trapped in an echo chamber in which the game is irrelevant and universally despised, even though the facts say otherwise. Heck, I remember seeing several fans asking for a Switch port, so that’s probably what led us here.

I think Arise’s popularity is being judged PURELY based on its reception outside Japan, hence why it seems like “no one” cares about the game. Yet when you flip over to the Japanese fandom, there’s a ton of fan art, fanfiction, and discussion about the game. Strange…

Someone on Twitter claimed “no one cares about [Tales of] Arise”, and the Switch 2 version will flop. They also suggested no one cared about BtD, either. But 1) BtD was only made BECAUSE the fans cared, and 2) Arise has an active Japanese fanbase, and they’re very excited. #TalesOfArise #TOArise

Also, of course, once the haters barge their way into the conversation, the fans feel less comfortable admitting they like the game, so they’re quiet.

Maybe some streamer with those takes finished the game recently, and everyone’s now parroting them. Either that, or they came from a bad video essay or something.

More new artwork for Arise on the Switch 2! The vibe of this one is…very different. Very anime. 😄 It is a Japanese game, after all.

It doesn’t have to be the Switch 2 version, of course. It’s just another option.

Reason #1 to play Tales of Arise: because you deserve the chance to form your own opinion on a game, instead of obeying a vocal minority who claims the game is trash (OR the fans who say it’s awesome). If you’re even the least bit curious about it, try it for yourself.

That doesn’t mean there’s nothing positive in it. The haters are quite vocal, but the game has plenty of fans as well, especially in the Japanese fandom. In fact, in the first two years after it released, I’d see new lots of fan art and fanfiction every single day.

Well, with the remasters coming out, it’s a great time to get into the series! Xillia’s camera was out to get me. I get bad motion sickness. Couldn’t go twenty minutes without feeling like I was about to hurl. It still has some great moments, though, but obviously, I’m not as familiar with it.

That’s fine. I liked Arise more. I physically can’t play Xillia because of the camera, but Graces has one of my favorite casts (with Arise’s being my favorite). My point is just more Tales is always better. I’ve been into this series for about 20 years, and each game has something to love.

Why not play all three?
