In one week we begin our 42nd year of glacier field work in the North Cascades of Washington. @protectourwinters.bsky.social released a short film "Shaped by Ice" today looking at our 41st season. The film was a Bloomberg Green Film Festival finalist on July 16th.

A rapid 400 m rise in glacier snow line was observed during first three weeks of May on Iceland's Öræfajökull and Vatnajökull. Driven by a record warm May +10 C above average, the snowline at 800 m is higher than typical Late June levels. #glaciology
