It’s a little surprising that the coaches haven’t gotten it corrected because there’s continuity there.

But I think it’s a mix of everything, but specifically poor play. Doubt we’d be seeing it if they were putting up 40 points a game.

BTW, this has become a theme on the offense now. No one is even attempting to help a teammate up. Especially the OL.

Kinda wild, huh? Inherited starters at WKU and Purdue. Went the portal route here. Plummer is actually the only guy he’s signed who has even been a starter at all if memory serves me.

Fair point. Guess I’m hopeful that it’s a sense of pride in the program for him.

But this feels a bit like the retirement move to Florida at times to me.

Top of the list makes me feel good with the uptick in offenses coming up. Bottom of the list makes me feel real bad about next weekend.

Also an important lesson for cis White folks (straight men especially): Your threat of withholding support or allyship means less than nothing to anyone historically marginalized. It's literally the baseline assumption we work from. You're not "showing us," you're just confirming our expectations.

Little wrinkle I saw in fall practice. English is rolling up two safeties and Watts is dropping into a deep safety spot. I'd imagine he has some pressures out of it. Both safeties combine for a TFL here.

I agree that Marrow does change things but I think it may be too late for next year. HS guys are locking in much earlier now so I think they’re going to have to go heavy in the portal again. But maybe they shift their strategy there and look for more younger guys that need a fresh start.

I’m a little cynical though. I thought the defense would be ass this year.

But the roster stuff is a red flag for me. It’s what got BP in trouble and it was called out by writers I trust when they brought him back. Some good Purdue folks had roster questions when Brohm was hired too.

If the defense was playing like shit I would’ve already written the post about it. A lot of similarities in other areas. Including the unsportsmanlike conduct calls from veteran leaders.

I just don’t get the plan or how they got here.

I think this will be a major issue for the fans if the roster is an issue next year. Most people put up with the heavy portal stuff but no one likes it. But everyone likes winning. If that stops the mood changes more quickly.

Going to probably post more about this this week since it’s a bye week but the roster outlook for next year is terrible. Get Duke or Brown back and maybe it’s not bleak but there’s no position group outside of LB and DE that looks very good right now.

Louisville brought in 3 tight ends via the portal and they've played a total of 51 snaps and neither of the guys who made it to campus have played in 4 games.
The OL transfers are all essentially now on the bench as well. Don't get me started on the receivers.

Fun fact: Jeff Brohm has only started one scholarship quarterback that he has signed in his career. That QB is Jack Plummer. Twice.

I've pointed it out before but it's worth noting as people look for him to bench Moss. Not a lot of evidence that he can evaluate HS QBs.

They got over reliant on him at times last year but they had an NFL back who ran for 1100 yards. He was an issue for them last year, and we're seeing some of that issue.

USC is 7-2 since they benched Miller Moss and the guy that replaced him is in the top 5 in basically every meaningful stat and is completing 70% of his passes.

Louisville has 3 plays of 40+ yards this year. That ranks 103rd in the country. They led the nation last year.

Something that stands out when you watch other teams compared to the Cards is just how many more options they have on offense.

It’s alarming that Brohm hasn’t built an offense with a diverse passing game in year three.
