It is so disappointing to see that the government of Pres. Bernardo Arévalo is winding down the Cuban doctors program. Cuban doctors provided much needed medical attention in rural communities that were often abandoned by the state. This also hands the far-right a victory they've sought for years.

The Washington Post just laid off its entire award-winning photo team. They were our eyes in places we'll never see. It's a horrifying loss at a time when lying governments, propaganda and AI slop are on the rise.

And funny story, I lived next to the San Juan Comalapa cemetery for two years. My black cat, Paxil, was the cemetery cat.
