Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the β€˜deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.

I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?

β€œThey have essentially, for public purposes, been disappeared.” Yes, but they have also been, *legally speaking,* forcibly disappeared. Enforced disappearance is not a term of art. It is a human rights violation that can amount to a crime against humanity: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Mr. Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Trump Admin and, by their own admission, wrongly deported to El Salvador. He shouldn’t have to spend another second away from his family.

I'm flying to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check on his condition and discuss his return.

Trump and Poilievre both want to interfere with academic freedom and independent thought.

As Harvard said: No government should dictate what universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.

CANADIAN REPORTER: Trump's tone on Canada has shifted. He stopped talking about Canada becoming the 51st state.

LEAVITT: I would reject that the president's position on Canada has shifted. Perhaps he just hasn't been asked about it. He believes Canadians would benefit from becoming the 51st state.

Every single university president should be asked, in public, why they are not speaking out this way to support all the students currently detained without due process, and all those terrified that they will be next, on every campus in this country. Yes, including Columbia's acting president.
