I had this marketing concept for rural NS today, where we just go poster communities with simple messaging like "Houston shut your museum and took jobs away from your kids"
Or, like "Make city folks pay bridge tolls"

Just to see if we could get on the same page provincially that Houston is a dick.

We have choices in Nova Scotia.
We can choose hope or fear.
We can choose abundance or scarcity.
We can choose community over cliques.

We can choose who we allow to represent us in government.

The HPV vaccine is durably AMAZING.A massive Swedish registry study w 18 years of follow-up found no waning protection against invasive cervical cancer. If vaccinated before age 17, cancer risk is cut by ~80%. Even those vaccinated later still had substantial protection.

'Medical misogyny': NDP table bill for task force on women's health after Houston budget cuts - Halifax Examiner "We need to fix a fundamental systemic disparity that stems from centuries, thousands of years of women's voices being ignored," NDP Leader Claudia Chender said.

NDP's Claudia Chender and several women from across the province who’ve had trouble accessing proper care say the current system of ignoring women’s pain and health care is β€œmedical misogyny”,

β€œIt’s cruel and almost defies belief,” Chender said.

β€œThese cuts appear to target the most vulnerable Nova Scotians,” Dr. Aaron Bates writes.

β€œThese harms were preventable. The 1 percentage point cut in the HST will cost Nova Scotia $265 million this year. Reversing this tax cut will nearly negate the chaos caused by this decision.”

One of many quotable points:

I’m really impressed with all the HaliSky folks who’ve come together to advocate for fiscal sustainability in Halifax.
Unlike the astroturf landlord group with their clickbait facebook survey, we now have a website with facts & tools for folks to contact council. Send those emails!

So @nsgov.bsky.social was told in 2022 they were overspending, but they went ahead with a tax cut & toll removal anyway. This isn’t overspending that β€œhappened to” the government, but a budget they designed that will make us all poorer. Fiscally irresponsible #NSPoli oag-ns.ca/media/news-r...

How escalating Iran conflict is driving up oil and gas prices – a visual guide A near-halt to shipping in strait of Hormuz and attacks on Middle East refineries are threatening supplies and stoking inflation

If your transportation system depends on a narrow shipping lane halfway around the world staying calm, it’s not freedom, it’s fragility. So as @nsgov.bsky.social doubles down on car dependency, we have to ask the question - is this a transportation strategy or a hostage situation? πŸ€” #CarBrain

Are these steel bollards of children creepy, yes.

Are they doing their job, also yes.

As always. The children are the front line in pedestrianized safety.

"Just remove the bike lanes"

There are no bike lanes.

"Well, then remove parking during peak hours, then!"

There's no parking on that stretch. It's literally just not physically wide enough for the bus lanes.

People are just so incredibly ignorant about things they're so passionate about.

In recent years, Bilbao has quietly built a cycling network shaped by lessons from the Netherlands: calmed where it can be, protected where it must be, and always comfortable and connected.

The result? You can now pedal across the city on infrastructure made for everyoneβ€”not just the fit and brave.
