The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed. That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.

The last song GGG (ghost go, ghost) actively contending with the desire to keep a hold of what was lost while having to turn away and move forward. Not knowing what way is the right way after and doubting how one is trying to. I love this discography so fucking much.

The last four songs on this album are deeply...trying. Best interest trying to create distance from the pain, isolating ones self from the world around them and trying to just stay solitarily stable, the weak, unstable string behind it all haunting the song.

Fuck...I would come away from By the Time I Get to Phoenix with the cold comfort that things go forward, this album has now shown what forward was. A future ever pulled by the past, the present being a survival without any of the needed institutional support to do so.

By The time I Get to Phoenix is filled with the immediate aftermath , coping, aggressive push back, a splintering and destructive loss. This album is in a way post post, like desperate claws trying to dig back up a body that cant speak.
