Aside from the actual serious dangers to DC residents and visitors, this is going to kill multiple restaurants and local businesses. This is both terrifying and infuriating.

I don’t get why either would be considered distractions. They are both revolting & terrifying, as are myriad other things. This idea that only one thing can be important at any time & everything else is a distraction is due to the press/pundits/certain factions’ inability to cover multiple issues.🍸

It’s a rough argument, particularly with those ignoring history. Similar arguments with young LGBTQ+ community members maligning gay marriage not being pushed earlier, ignoring that predecessors had fought for years just to exist without constant violence, limited access to jobs/ healthcare, etc.
