My paper is part of the larger special issue on resisting the new conservatism in social work broadly. So many great gems in here!
What a great way to kick off my birthday weekend and as always, let me know whatcha think!! 🥳
this paper is a shorter read on 1: key terms so we can have common language to organize ourselves around, 2: historical highlights of previous moments of fascism and how the far right came to be, and 3: several solutions that have been within our communities all along, of course!

can we talk about how cultural competence/humility/whatever still centers yt practitioners as the default? because as a Native social worker, how am I supposed to be culturally humble with my own dang culture??

If I had a dollar for every time a woman in leadership abused her power and harassed me as a junior scholar but won a professional award the very same year, I'd only have two dollars but it still feels like a lot for one person to deal with.

On this day, 160 years ago, enslaved people in Texas found out about their freedom nearly 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
we have to stop the innate urge to split things in half. another tenet of yt supremacy culture is either/or thinking. decolonizing doesnt mean colonized/decolonized, it's a false dichotomy. reading la paperson and they demonstrate that the decolonial already exists even within colonial contexts.

As with colonialism, they like to say "history is written by the winners" but our ancestors were living their mf lives, not showing up heavily armed with total world domination as the goal. The violence of a narrative. /2

Some have said he was in a dispute or feud with his neighbor. Others say it was a gunfight. He was harassed for *years* and was never taken seriously. 1/
