The structure of a 'symphony' has become more ambiguous over decades and centuries. From Haydn's works with the 1st mvt sonata form, Bruckner used 3 subjects, Mahler makes the 'structure' more ambiguous. Perhaps a symphony is where insts play together?

Niet het beste weer in LΓΌbeck, maar toch leuk om in de stad van Thomas Mann te lopen en het Buddenbrookhaus te zien.

Thomas Mann is 150 jaar geleden geboren.

Watched "Letter from an Unknown Woman" (1948), currently showing on iPlayer. Although filmed entirely in Hollywood, the evocation of old Vienna is beautifully done. I particularly liked the moment where young Lisa, played by Joan Fontaine, inspects the photographs of Brahms and Mahler on the wall.

The Aesthetic Empire of Alma Mahler-Werfel Notorious for her marriages and affairs, the widow of genius is gaining new attention for her music.

The case of Alma Mahler-Werfel β€œdramatizes how opportunity, environment, and other contingencies shape artistic careers.” Alex Ross reassesses the life and work of the most legendary widow of the 20th century.

Thrilling moments in #Mahler 3 at the Proms - Beth Taylor, wow! - AND I managed to manoeuvre past the tall blokes in the Arena. Ready for a sit down now

A great performance, Mahler at his joyful best. Beth Taylor marvellous, like Mahler 2, singers sitting and waiting and producing a fine entrance.

Listing from the armchair does have its advantages!

Ukraine is vulnerable now and needs the support of all free people.
They have sacrificed troops and civilians defending not only themselves, but Europe, including the United States.
The Trump regime clearly does not see the connection between U.S. security and Ukraine's success in Europe.

I find the Ring accompanies you through life. I have been able to see many productions over the years and now continue to enjoy recordings. The several dialogue sections between characters are indeed some of the most rewarding scenes in the operas.

Your post got me to listen again to Die WalkΓΊre, this time Keilberth of 1953. A chance to hear Martha Modl.

Wotan says 'Frag deine Tat, sie deutet dir deine Schuld'. 'Look at what you have done, that is your guilt'.

It's sad for one's property to be stolen, never mind the huge inconvenience. I remember, when living in London, trying to place things securely when out and about.

Users do set up 'starter packs' in BS and it is a very effective way to build up a following by selecting from the lists or by selecting to follow all.

That character does not sit well in European structures. The EU clearly has issues with Orban as he generally disagrees with most that the EU is doing.

How things have changed in four years, Europe mostly quiet then.

Just think - a linking of the US, Russia, Hungary versus EU and UK. Terrible.
