Been away from Bsky for a few months - one of which was spent in Italy. Is there a more sublime country on earth?
05.10.2025 00:19 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Ok. Back after three or four months… first excuse, in Italy for a month.
Magical
Second excuse, writing and golfing all summer. This week, finally finished my first draft of my first noval. 93,000 words. Political thriller, based upon current political figures.
Now. What to do with it?
I’m not discounting that - for sure - it’s easier to deal with immigration, obviously, when you’re a white person with a Canadian passport. And easier yet if you have even modest affluence.
But. Suggesting that no one outside fo the U.S. should travel there is a little bit of overkill.
More than you’d think.
08.04.2025 19:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think there should be a way to “trade citizenship” for people that otherwise would be acceptable citizens.
Like, say, hockey cards… trade you a Team Canada for a Team USA.
Put a bunch into U.S. stocks.. lol…
Otherwise, I don’t really see the point.
Perhaps. I’m naive and you might be called hyperbolic.
People with immigration issues ought to not, maybe, travel to the U.S.. You didn’t qualify your comment however. You suggested that no one should travel to the U.S.
I just pointed out for the vast majority of people - travel is not an issue.
There are so many reasons, politically, to avoid travel to many countries, for example, a few years ago I was in China.
And to Moscow, Russia before that when it was the U.S.S.R.
Amazing people but brutal government far worse than anything in the western world.
Travel, for me, informs.
Pure chance experience. In Las Vegas, dinner at Oscar’s (sublime btw), and walking past show room. I see a hostess…
“Are tickets still available for show? (in 10 minutes). “They are? Two please.”
No idea what the show is.
Was awesome. Go see Mavericks at the Plaza.

Been to Italy many times, but have never visited Milan (other than for changing trains).
Convince me it’s worth visiting.
Back in 23 days… Padova, Riva del Garda, Verona and La Maddalena. 🇮🇹
Just got back from U.S., was lovely. Border security people were nice, professional and took less than two minutes.
I encourage travel to the U.S., one of the world’s great countries for sure.
In Canada? Forever.

08.04.2025 15:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Easily Country Music Artist of the Year.
Better than Beyonce! LOL…
Damn. Been listening to Post Malone’s new album (and added tracks on Apple Music) for three days - “F1 Trillion.”
The BEST country album I’ve heard in a long, long time.
Nellie.. didn’t you get the memo? In today’s world you’re either “radical liberal” or “far right”. Though, sadly, too many people - and judges - are getting caught up in that narrative, seeing the “others” and dangerous to society and doing things that betray their own ethics and values.
02.04.2025 15:57 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0TBH I never thought about it until now. I think living in Alberta, we spend a fair bit of time here and in Montana where we are spoiled by nature… so when I look for a change, it hasn’t been nature - but I’ve heard Costa Rica is amazing.
02.04.2025 15:54 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Honestly? No. I’ve been to protected areas, in Canada, the U.S., but when I’m abroad, I tend to be more interested in historical and cultural discovery.
02.04.2025 15:52 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0LOL... Canadian. But at least you have a passing passion for your own history - we don’t even have that. We’re “post-national” lol…
07.02.2025 00:30 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It is. Because history is so amazing and crazy - likewise, English. I had no idea how amazing literature was until University.
We teach to test. We don’t teach to inspire curiosity.
Yes, was moving.. but then again, it was a testament to the amazing resolve of the Russian people in the face of so much oppression and abuse. From that perspective, it is a hopeful experience - that humans can endure and overcome.
