This was the Kestrel with the injured eye that I saw yesterday. I wonder if this was the raptor that took the Swallow? Perhaps it had adapted its hunting strategy to include the odd bird as its eyesight must be affected? 📷🌥🦅💚👍 #Pegwell #autumn #wildife

We walked back to #Ramsgate along the #Pegwell clifftop where we bumped into Scott @scottbirder.bsky.social who had just seen a Ring Ouzel, Redstart & Spotted flycatcher around the horse paddock. We spotted the Ouzel & some Song Thrush which was a great way to end our walk. 📷🌥💚👍

While watching the seals from the watch point. Ryan asked me what the bird was that had just landed on the fence not that far from us. We stood and watched this Kingfisher dive into the water. Another great encounter that took our count to 3 Kingfishers seen today! 📷☁️💙💙💙👍 #Pegwell #autumn #wildlife

Passing the #Pegwell pool we got to see my first Common Snipe of the season there and a good few Little Egrets. We stopped at the bird hide for some lunch and over on Shellness point I spotted 5 Avocet. 📷👍

At the old #Pegwell hoverport we got some nice views of 2 Wheatear flitting about the rocks looking for insects to eat. 📷☁️💚👍

Further along the coast a few Swallows were flying back & forth along the cliff when all of a sudden a raptor swooped out & grabbed a Swallow right in front of us. Although the behaviour suggests a Sparrowhawk I got the impression it might be a Kestrel but it all happened so quickly! 📷☁️🦅💚👍

An amazing day out birdwatching with Ryan on my #Ramsgate to #Pegwell walk. From the clifftop I spotted 2 Kingfisher chasing each other low along the coast so I decided to change our route & walk along the beach to see if we could refind them. 📷☁️💙💙💚👍

It was a pretty good day for birdwatching. No photo but I got a nice view of a male Ring Ouzel as it flew above me from the coastguard cottages to the big tree by the Pegwell hotel. Also a Wheatear, 2 Whinchat & 2 Kingfisher. Also 5 Brent geese, Lapwings, Teal & Shovelers back at #Pegwell. 📷
