This ruling really muddies the waters on trans rights and starts our treatment as second class. We no longer have protections under the Sex protected characteristic in our lived genders.
It’s time our allies actually listened and supported us.

Which group? Because sexual orientation refers to “a person’s sexual orientation towards…same sex…opposite sex, or …either sex”, no mention of neither/none.
Non-binary people were disparaged in this ruling and intersex people are ignored in the equality act.
So again, which group?

The EA 2010 and the GRA 2004 are now obviously, hopelessly out of date and need updating to include explicit protections for all trans people, ace and aro people and non-binary and intersex people. Please do something

It’s trans day of visibility. We are here all year round, but the press treat us as a punching bag while the government systematically strip our rights and freedoms.

Today is a day for as much joy and resistance as we can muster.

For Trans* Day of Visibility, the wonderful Trans* Theology Group are looking for trans*, non-binary, and genderqueer Christians to create a short video focused on the joy of being trans*. With a variety of ways to get involved, we hope to hear from as many people as possible!

Interested in getting involved? On A4 paper, write a short answer to the question ‘what gives you trans* joy?’. You can leave this anonymous, or share some brief identifiers with you answer. For example; Soph, she/they, PhD Student. Take a short 5 second video of the paper. You can be holding it, or you can place it somewhere in your home or outside to film it. Just make sure it is filmed in portrait! Finally, email your clip to transtheologygroup@movement.org.uk by 20th March and let them know that you’re happy with your clip to be shared across SCM’s social media pages.
