I suppose Dick Van Dyke and he will just have to spend more time together.

Long term ice core studies show that similar events have happened over the millennia. When compared the 1859 solar storm barely even register. They are historically much, much worse.

My 20kw panels and 48kWh battery installs next month. It’s a total no brainer to pull money from my super for this and be financially better off in the long term.

Guardian Essential poll: only a quarter of older Australians believe climate change can be prevented Results show a β€˜general sense of gloom’ as fewer Australians now believe climate change is caused by humans compared with March

We’re fucked.
With these declining percentages of people believing in climate change there’s no way things will turn around. People just don’t understand the basic science. And we grey beards can already compare the difference from our youth so we’re in despair 😩

I call it the wrist slashing music I despise. Until I heard β€œCowgirl in the Rain”, the only song I feel is a little uplifting.

Toyota HiLux EV and β€˜game-changing’ hydrogen ute confirmed for Australia The popular Toyota HiLux is losing its petrol engine but keeping diesel power while gaining both electric and hydrogen fuel-cell versions.

Toyota is so late to the party I doubt this will make a great impact. Sure they’ll sell a few BEVs but chasing the hydrogen boondoggle is a complete waste. In the mean time Chinese BEVs will eat their lunch.

A couple. Diving that deep is just depressing. I’ve got a good enough understanding from the read.

Australian households to get free electricity three hours a day Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, the federal government will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

This is what we’ll see more of as we move over to the electrification of everything

Yes I noticed that when I looked it up but tho it may be a false memory I feel like I saw it at a theatre. It was 40 years ago πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I’m ambivalent either way but good on ya for noticing.

Thanks to @documental.ly substack (which I’ve been a paid reader for years) I’ve just read this sobering account about Superintelligent AI.

I haven’t felt this way since walking out of the cinema after seeing β€œThe Day After” in 1983. I’m just much older and have less life to miss out on this time.

When you spend years striving for a goal, it’s an odd feeling to finally arrive. Six years and I’m now retired in my new home.

Thirty years ago we paid off the house and we’re mortgage free. A month later we broke up. I’ve been paying rent and mortgage ever since… Until today. Accommodation is now fully paid for. What a relief.

Could a planet really develop a brain? "My contention is that Earth may, if we are lucky and diligent and clever enough, grow an emergent superconsciousness."

Gaia theory has always been a concept I’ve been fascinated with. This is an extension where we have a global intelligence.

On Monday, does Peter Dutton have to go to his parliamentary office to clean it out or do they just send him the boxes? I suppose he could just ask John Howard.

One in five Australians used to watch this show. Now clips thought lost forever have been found Every week, Sunday night six o'clock, Australians settled down to watch a show so famous even King Charles III made an appearance.

My lifetime has now become history.
This is introducing Countdown to younger generations as a historical phenomenon and for me it’s my youth.
