Fans got to jump into the three-foot high, ten-foot-wide pan to collect prizes.
An action shot of a man dressed like Luigi getting drenched with a faceful of spaghetti. He's holding some kind of Gamecube swag bag.

A photo from a magazine of person in a Sonic the Hedgehog costume standing by a barbeque with three Crash Bandicoot plush toys. Sonic is giving a thumbs up and poking at the toys with an implement. Except, instead of crushing pedestrians and munching on rail cars, these new beasts are causing a frenzy of a different sort: that of the sales variety. As in eight million games sold and millions of dollars in merchandise. They're the monster pets of PokΓ©mon. Next target? America. And considering their successful TV show, merchandising and hefty promotional push, the results promise to be just as phenomenal. Which means that there's a very good chance lightning will soon be shooting out of a few retailers' heads as well. PokΓ©mon. Coming this Fall. Catch 'em if you can."

21.03.2025 15:21 β π 33 π 11 π¬ 5 π 3"Bust A Groove Briefly Loses Its Rhythm 989 Studios issued a statement in late September announcing that their upcoming PaRappa-style dancing game, Bust A Groove, had been canceled "due to contractual reasons beyond [their] control." Originally released last winter in Japan by Enix under the name Bust A Move, the cancelation came as a big surprise to many in the industry, especially since the American version was enjoying good prerelease press and seemed to be on the verge of completion. That same week, while everyone was still scratching their heads trying to figure out what could have possibly gone wrong, 989 Studios released a new statement saying that the previous letter was issued prematurely, and that Bust A Groove was indeed still scheduled for U.S. release. An Enix representative told us that the problem was the refusal of both sides' representatives to work with each other on some minor contract details, and that after the cancellation their superiors got together, quickly resolved the troubles, and had a good laugh about the whole thing. The OPM staff did as well."
Today's wild find in the VGHF Library: Back in September 1998, the US publisher of Bust-A-Groove announced that it was canceled... and then UNCANCELLED it days later.
Turns out there was a contract issue, and somebody in PR jumped the gun. Yikes!

Clip of a news article from EGM with the following text: "No details are available as to what the game will be about as we go to press, although the collected management of both Square and Disney showed a rather unimpressive CG demo of Goofy that underwhelmed Japanese and Western correspondents alike. A Japanese journalist sitting in front of the EGM contingent even fell asleep during the conference, much to our amusement."
