She doesn't even want to understand the graph she is referencing, which shows a decline in trans and non-binary identifying youth in the US. I guarantee you the decline is driven by state bans on gender affirming care and the hostility the far right has fostered towards trans and non-binary people.

I have several trans friends. One got a conceal carry permit because she feels that unsafe in public spaces. One moved to a more trans friendly state because of laws being passed trying to criminalize her existence. Trans and non-binary people are being forced to hide who they are.

Murphy says she doesn't hate trans people and then goes on to refer to "trans ideology" and call it a "destructive and insidious movement." It sure sounds like she hates trans people. Trans people are just trying to live their lives. There is no ideology or grand plan to indoctrinate kids.

So, yeah. This sucks. She has made some of my most cherished albums over her career (be it with Moloko or solo), but that's over now. No more streams and no more purchases in support of someone who appropriated from gay/trans culture and then turned TERF. Fuck off.

How soul-crushing it is to see my favoritest female singer/artist spout anti-trans nonsense and then quadruple down on it ... especially after using queer and trans culture as inspiration for her music/art.
