The foreign minister emerged from a meeting with her US counterpart in Washington with no guarantee the Trump administration would continue the defence pact with Australia.
No guarantees from US Secretary of State AUKUS will proceed. But we can't afford to wait for AUKUS to fail (this year, next year, in 10 years). We need to change course and insist on an independent, anti-militarist, non-nuclear foreign and defence policy.
