Mm, I will disagree that calling her out is misdirected. She needs to accurately convey her reasoning. Leaving room for doubt is problematic because the narrative can get spun. I don't think the incongruities have been addressed and sadly every little chink in the armor is being used to sow division

Villains are `human`, though they may behave in ways that are inhumane. A backstory is ideally meant to elicit understanding, to serve as an explanation rather than a pardon. Often feels very ham-fisted, and there's usually an "everyone deserves redemption" messaging to it that I disagree with.

This is actually a genius aesthetic. Tan lines instead of tribal tattoos or accessories, and you can get some really cool design by tanning with some stenciled clothing or something. Fuck mate, that's brilliant!

It could also be a sexualization thing. If you have something in your pockets it may alter how your figure is perceived. If you can't have anything in your pocket, then your figure is fully visible.
