thanks. I'm definitynot mad about it. They paid quickly, and produced the story way quicker than I assumed they would. Something to remember for if/when I submit again. :) (Now I have to find yours and Greg's stories.)

Good thing I checked in: Apparently my story, "Have You Seen Her?" was published on Creepy Pod's Patreon page in April… It is a Patreon exclusive at $5, but I'd love if you could go listen to my story and Creepy's other great… creepy stories!

And story acceptance has been withdrawn because the contract included that the publisher was going to use AI to do audio versions.

I wished them well and said I hope in the future they would consider not using AI.

WOMP WOMP.

Somehow I wound up on "classical music YouTube" and now instead of the 90s/00s music I've been listening to all my life. It's Chopin and Beethoven.

It's dark and raving, just like metal, but none of the terrible, and terribly contrived, lyrics!

Anthropomorphic dip-pen and inkwell stand infront of a table stacked with books. Pen holds a sign with '18+' drawn on the center, with a heart around it. Inkwell is holding a paper colored rainbow with 'LGBTQA' upon it. Inkwell is holding a hand up in a 'stop' motion. Behind the table is the vague sense of a crowd also holding signs. Above image it reads: "CARTOONISTS Against Adult Content CENSORSHIP"

Took a class like that a few years ago. The instructor subtitled it "virgins and whores" and we read all these except added The Monk, Fanny Hill, and Evelina, and swapped in Fielding's satire of Pamela, "Shamela" instead of Tom Jones. One of my favorite classes.

I think you're confusing Watchmen with Lovecraft Country with your parenthetical comment. Other than the "Lovecraft" connection, though, you're spot on.

And... Finished my novella. Passing it off to some readers and see where to go from there.

Nothing will remind you to water your plants more than writing a pod-person story... plants are people too.

Finished rereading Moby Dick today, since (possibly) reading it in junior high. It's an incredible book, and yet all I want to do now is make sperm jokes.

I just spent the weekend marathoning through all 3 seasons of "From" on MGM+, and the weirdest thing of all is how Harold Perrineau has somehow transformed himself into Wendell Pierce.

Great show though!!

I never want to hear about DEI and lower skills again. The white people who hate diversity are failing upward on main and risking everything to do it.

I'll be honest, I read that book with such a clear vision of what the film version should be, any other adaptation was never going to hold up. Not to take anything away from Mike Flanagan tho. He did a fine job.

Not a single recommendation for Gerald's Game. But there it is! Not quite horror. More suspense thriller. It's so good and is as close to watching a movie I feel like I've ever been while reading a book. (The movie version didn't quite land for me though.)

That was a remake of a Scandinavian film.

Opinion | There’s a Name for What Trump Is Doing to Trans People: Denationalizing (Gift Article) The message is that we are a threat to the nation. The subtext is that we are not of this nation.

"The reason you should care about this is not that it could happen to you but that it is already happening to others. It is happening to people who, we claim, have rights just because we are human. It is happening to me, personally."

I literally just finished reading it. Amazing book, and I'd say no adaptation (I haven't heard the album you refer to, so that excluded) has fully captured what the book is.
