Typically, the candudate who rely more on out of state large donors is very likrly to have an upset lose, why? because out of state big donors can't vote in the election in that state. Other than known to be DOA Manchin and Sinema, guess who rely on out of state big donor the most?

Seeing these numbers, even in today, can still make me cry, especially after 2022 exit poll vindicated them.

What can it tell us? not much, who can imagine an ideaological fringe candidate can "clear the field" and then get attacked by GOP as the percieved candidate 7 years later? With another candidate that can potentially fill the ideaological vaccum?

And her pervieved candidate status make GOP begun attacking her as the percieved candidate early on. Which is the reason why she polled worse here.

In 2016 primary, an ideaological fringe candidate cleared the field and become the pervieved candidate, but because she is ideaological fringe another candidate filled the ideaological vaccum and make it a compepetive primary.

You guess I would have say "this shows PIME, Bernie would have won them"? Now, as a rational progressive I know Bernie would definitely perform worse in those states than HRC had he become the candidate, but why did he poll better?

One confounding thing about 2016 1v1 poll is that even in some very neoliberal, very anti progressive states Sanders still polled better than Hillary, these are poll results of Sanders v Trump race and the same poll's Hillary vs Trunp number.
