Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.

Iran retaliated with missile and drone bombardments against U.S. bases and allied territory, targeting military facilities across the Gulf, including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. One Iranian drone killed six American service members at a U.S. command center in Kuwait. Asked whether Americans should be worried about retaliatory attacks at home, Trump acknowledges the possibility. β€œI guess,” he says. β€œBut I think they’re worried about that all the time. We think about it all the time. We plan for it. But yeah, you know, we expect some things. Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die."

Donald Trump’s White House is blocking top US intelligence agencies from warning law enforcement across the country about rising threats to the homeland tied to his war with Iran, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The FBI, Homeland Security, and the National Counterterrorism Center were preparing to put out a joint intelligence statement on Friday to state and local authorities alerting them of a heightened threat due to the ongoing war in Iran, a senior DHS official said.

The bulletin, which was reviewed by the Daily Mail, details 'elevated threats by the government of Iran to US military and government personnel and facilities, Jewish and Israeli institutions and their perceived supporters, and Iranian dissidents and other anti-regime activists in the United States.'

'Radicalized individuals with a variety of ideological backgrounds also may see this conflict or other geopolitical events as a justification for violence,' the report continues.

The five-page bulletin blocked by the White House provides specific details on how Iranian proxies may carry out attacks across the country. One section explains how local law enforcement can respond to this type of violence.

The official title is 'A Public Safety Awareness Report: Elevated threat in the United States during US-Iran conflict'.

Homeland Security broke protocol and gave the White House a heads-up about the nationwide bulletin hours before it was set to be released.

Top Trump officials ordered it placed on β€˜hold’. The White House did not deny blocking the terror bulletin in a statement to the Daily Mail.

This is always the problem of thinking of it as "the cloud" -- a term that really just means "someone else's servers, dependent on a power grid somewhere." Would thinking of it as "the network" remind us of "the cloud's" all-too-real terrestrial vulnerabilities?

Spanish PM SΓ‘nchez responds to Trump:

"Spain is against this disaster... Govts are here to improve people's lives... It is absolutely unacceptable that those leaders who are unable to fulfill that mission use the smoke of war to hide their failure, and in the process, fill the pockets of a few."

It's not hyperbole to suggest that today we have a federal government that doesn't so much represent or resemble a federal administration as it does a family crime syndicate.

Newspapers Did Not Kill Themselves - The American Prospect New docs say Jeffrey Epstein collaborated with the Russian mob to loot the New York Daily News, then tried to help Mort Zuckerman discard it when reporting became inconvenient.

Empathy is what stops the law from becoming a weapon

Authority knows if they can drain empathy from society, they can hollow us out.

The most dangerous moment is not when the law is broken loudly, but when it is broken quietly

I watched a couple of nominated short films with @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social and this one stood out for me. I went in knowing nothing, and decided to stay bc it is important to not turn away from things going on around us. I do not regret watching this short film.

In 2019 I had the incredible opportunity to visit Manzanar concentration camp with other young Japanese Americans. Feb 19th marks the day FDR issued orders removing and imprisoning 120,000 Japanese Americans, and my trip is especially top of mind today. I took these photosβ€”more details in alt text.
