I read a section from Yellowface in class. One of my students said the protagonist sounded like a teenager, and was surprised to learn the character was in their 20s.

So I'm now wondering, what do you look for when estimating a character's age (if it isn't explicitly mentioned)?

Yes, but mainly for illness or education.

I've always wanted to apply to a writer-in-residence position in another city, but my (very stable) day job prevents me. It remains a dream, but hopefully one day!
