like im not saying only do low quality commissions but find a good balance dont put alll your effort into every single piece. but dont give your clients shit from a butt either

say all the commissions u take on are big
by the time you finish one you're so low on energy n you need a break but oh wait you have another big comm to do so that client has to wait even longer while you rest
plus now you're burnt out
and clients are piling up
and they're asking what's the hold up

like what I do to prevent the later is I don't take on commissions that would just be too much even if im paid fairly
like I won't do a 5 character fully rendered scene bgs n all cause not only will that take forever, it would drain my energy
n thats basically it time n energy management

I think in most cases on the commissioners side it either falls under being unprofessional and kind of an ass to your clients or genuinely biting off more then what you can chew workload wise

seeing talk bout people having to wait a whole years worth for commissions and I can proudly say I've never done that to any of yall🙏🏽
