Mm hm. No mention of the sexism Franklin was constantly forced to endure in this cosy little, “they were all respectful colleagues, actually” article.

What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.

The Double Helix shenanigans are getting a lot of discussion following Watson's death. This article is DJing the rounds. It's a really interesting read. But I'm interested in people's take on it.

My first experience with Hammer Horror was via a couple of sets of bubblegum cards in the mid-1970s. These pictures in this blog post look a lot like them. “Shocking Laffs”? Anyone else remember these?

Richard Allen's Skinhead the blog about vintage and modern space toys, Project SWORD, SpaceX and Golden Astronaut, Monsters, sci-fi and vintage toys

Well, the "Skinhead" & "Suedehead" books, I think I dimly knew about. (Thanks, Steven Patrick Morrissey.) But do any folks know anything about Richard Allen's other novels, including "Knuckle Girls," "Sorts," & "Smoothies"? 📚💙 #booksky

This Norwegian stabbur, ca 1700, one of the oldest buildings in the region. Used to store foods & other things off of the ground, away from animals.

I'm not OK, for all the Crone reasons.

We know where her house came from! Its origins, most likely!

I’ve just seen a narrowboat that looks like it’s entirely crewed by cats, and it’s not even 10am

‘Change course now’: humanity has missed 1.5C climate target, says UN head Exclusive: ‘Devastating consequences’ now inevitable but emissions cuts still vital, says António Guterres in sole interview before Cop30

Overshooting 1.5°C wasn't 'inevitable.'

We've been pushed by fossil fuel giants & governments that pander to them.

Every delay, every oil field, every broken promise made this crisis worse.

Keir Starmer, will you promise to leave Rosebank undeveloped?

It is hard to overstate the stress produced by the incoherence of academic institutions pumping generative AI when they want to play business and then leaving instructors to deal with the results when they want to play school

Thanks for the prescription food tip--our Magnificent Beast has finally fully turned up her nose at the prescription wet food and I was wondering whether we could donate.

Colorado Pet Pantry is a similar organization in my area.

I'd note that prescription food (soooo expensive) can be donated. CO Pet Pantry has vet offices among its dropoff locations, and if you're elsewhere, your local vet probably knows needy patients.

Halp! I've found a ladybird / ladybug apparently trying to hibernate inside my house. I need suggestions for where I can relocate them to optimize their survival chances over the winter.

I have a deck, a mostly empty garage, and trees/ shrubs. The best option is ...? (🐞)
