Apparently a lot of people online think games aren't as fun anymore, but that could not be farther from the truth. There's more great games than ever now, so where is this coming from? As always, the culprit is capitalism.

The industry events like Anime NYC & Anime Expo, is picking what you value the most, gaming or manga/anime news.

I get it (a bit), if these conventions were offering different things. The smaller events are at least offering spaces to support the fandom/local anime community & there's little DIY spirit in there. he premiere events Momocon, Otakon, Holmat, etc you kinda pick 2-3 and you seen what you could.

Along the lines of talk about anime conventions, it might be me getting older & increased prices but I feel like trying to be at everything is a waste. Folks talking 10-20 cons in 1 year & I'm like:

You should be doing your best to center, this is an event celebrating Japanese cultural product. I shouldn't see Kpop at a anime event unless there's some crossover into Korean culture.

Idk, after going to different types of events, I wish a lot more anime events try to curate a strong sense of identity. Going for the all-encompassing nerdy event works well that's origin. Events like Magfest & Dreamcon(kinda) can navigate in that space. But if you are like Anime Weekend Atlanta
