I think the point being made is reasonable but it’s a misnomer to call it “centrism” without acknowledging the broader context for framing purposes.

Centrism was a good thing when we were discussing the “loony left” vs the “loony right”. With the wholesale shift of political discourse to the right, Menzies would now be at home in the left wing of the Labor party … Centrism as the strategy (misnamed) described by Denniss is a bad thing.
