Ever since I saw someone say they thought the goy part of goyslop was a combo of gay and soy, I've been wondering how many other people have no idea what the fuck they're saying half the time.
it gets even dumber, apparently

this is sort of where I'm at, that the low-info spaces are getting more antisemitic and anyone who doesn't actively reject it is going to be adjacent to it. this is not a defense of his candidacy, I think not being smart enough to do it is a drop-out-worthy problem.

fwiw, for me at least, him keeping the tattoo after knowing what it meant was the strongest case for him being a true believer; the other recent stuff slots more in the “terminally stupid” category. no one has to believe me but I think they interact less than one might think.

I like “Man I Need” — I was nearly positive that particular sound was gone and never coming back after ca. 2015 Lianne La Havas

using an xkcd reference to gently disagree with Bluesky consensus like learning a tribe’s local customs to earn their trust

just because I saw it come up again: I do think there’s a bit of a “one or two feldspars” aspect to assuming that anyone except a very specific online subset knows who Stew Peters is

crazy how different of a world it is than the one I grew up in, like, the ‘03 Blue Dogs are so gone, now we’re primarily mad at someone like Newsom for nodding with the justification before condemning the action and the only elected guy fully behind it is the one with literal brain damage

I have a critique of this tweet that disagrees with other interpretations of it. he’s not saying she’d be more likely to do it, he’s saying she needed to more strongly clarify that she wouldn’t. the reason it’s wrong, IMO, is that I don’t think it would’ve mattered.

the bit in Spinal Tap where Nigel makes his big comeback to the band and his guitar is still getting radio interference is severely underrated

like be skeptical, sure, but people and institutions are sometimes just inconsistent rather than being always fraudulent. sometimes people are even stupid on a bunch of things *because* they’re actually smart on one thing and are therefore overconfident.

if you encounter an informational program doing something on your area of expertise and completely whiffing it, it doesn’t actually seem less fallacious to assume they get everything else just as wrong as it is to have Gell-Mann Amnesia and continue trusting them

like "foid" technically breaks down to "female-oid" but it's not really used for transwomen, afaict, it's just a derogatory term for women

it's linguistically past meaning "shaped like", it's supposed to be slur-like in the way that "mongoloid" is a slur but for whatever thing you don't like. it's gross, I hate it.

forumspeak is an aesthetic travesty and I would accept it as irony if I had any faith that people were able to separate ironic usage from becoming sincere, which they very clearly increasingly aren't

this is an opportune time to air my grievance that I *hate*...*HATE* the increasing popularity of "-oid" as a suffix used to insult something. fucking hate it, makes my skin crawl each time.

there's a very funny fight emerging online where more neoliberal types claim Mamdani's snow shoveling program is on their side because it cuts out bureaucracy and leftier types claim it because it's the government employing people directly rather than contracting out

Jonathan Majors and Zachary Levi will star as twins in a new action film for The Daily Wire.
Described as anti-woke 'Sinners'
(via: Deadline)
this has the potential to be the unintentionally funniest movie ever made, like I’m dying just imagining a version of the juke joint scene where Elvis shows up to claim rock n’ roll and everyone agrees that it’s better

Brussel sprouts is an interesting example because in the 90's they were literally bred to taste better - not sure if that happened with other vegetables

this is pretty verbatim how my wife's father, who is just a few years old than RFK Jr., describes the experience of vegetables (he is, of course, not an insane person and adjusted in his 20's)

the similarity between the lefty hippie health stuff and the MAHA health stuff is believing that there was some ideal time when people "ate right" - the former usually goes back to, like, the Neolithic and the latter goes to about 1955
